How TO save it? Obviously,melting the auto industry drown wouldn't have helped Detroit any, but how to bail out an entire city from the roots up, especially when you've got a legislative branch opposed to pretty much anything of this sort?
No, actually, it isn't obvious that the bail out helped Detroit. The unemployment rate there is over double the national average. It was worse, when people still lived there. That they left, creating a ghost city isn't exactly a solution. But, you'd never know that if you relied on the media.
