BLM Proposes Removal of 630 Wild Horses from Jackson Mountains HMA in July Heat

The BLM is seeking public comments before they roundup and remove of 630 wild horses from the Jackson Mountains Herd here in northwestern Nevada. They want to do this in July when desert temperatures are high. We've had record breaking heat in the 90s in April here in Reno, so I wouldn't be surprised that by July we'll be facing 100+ days. This time of year the mares will be/are having their babies, so in July they'll still be young foals and the mares will be lactating. Even the BLM doesn't typically round-up during this season, so they're unsure just how disastrous the roundup will prove for the herd. One thing is certain, horses will be injured, suffer, and quite probably die. The public can complain about this prior to the round up. If you'd like to find out more check out that link above.
