Glow Eyes Book

Glow Eyes Book, originally uploaded by AnnaleeBlysse.

I got this Jiggle Glow Eyes book for my little nephew for Christmas because he likes fish and jiggly things and books ... not so he could read it in the dark. Do you imagine the company that designed these submitted a business proposal to the Small Business Administration and got it approved? LOL.

I was looking at image stats on Flickr. This old public domain image I uploaded last July has been viewed 43,303 times. To me that is amazing.

Wandering around flickr still and found this lovely artwork (mixed media collage) featuring the head of a raven.

Another startrail picture. This one is taken in low light with stars streaking across a blue sky. The different curves of light are fascinating. The image is taken over the clouds at some mountain to observatory.

Wow, I see a lovely night photo on the Flickr blog. It features a purplish night sky with pink and lavender startrails.

Windy Nights

Windy Nights
by Robert Louis Stevenson

Whenever the moon and stars are set,
Whenever the wind is high,
All night long in the dark and wet,
A man goes riding by.
Late in the night when the fires are out,
Why does he gallop and gallop about?

Whenever the trees are crying aloud,
And ships are tossed at sea,
By, on the highway, low and loud,
By at the gallop goes he.
By at the gallop he goes, and then
By he comes back at the gallop again.

Any Given Doomsday

I finished reading Lori Handeland's Any Given Doomsday last night. I can only recall having read a novella by Handeland in the past ... which I'd enjoyed. So when I saw the three books in the Phoenix Chronicles up at Borders, I used one of my holiday gift cards and bought them.

If you checked the reviews at Amazon you'd note that some people were disappointed (spoiler) that the heroine had sex with two men. Maybe this upset them because you can buy the book in the romance section of a bookstore?

But, with respect to this book the spine isn't labelled "paranormal romance". The spine says "novel". In romance, the heroine is typically bound to one man. But, the rules are different for fiction. To me it should be obvious that this novel isn't a "paranormal romance" novel because it is part of a series.

Do you ever get the urge to correct misconceptions on Amazon reviews? One of the reviews for this novel talked about how the book opens with the heroine's adopted mother shot. But, she wasn't shot. Another spoiler here ... she'd been killed by one of the paranormal creatures. Did they even read the book before they started complaining about it?

I personally enjoyed the author's writing style again, and plan to dive right into the next two in the series.
