You Probably Think This Post Is About You

I was wandering through the living room after work this evening when Bill O'Reilly's The Factor was on. He was interviewing some Web site owner. The Website inspired me to play with the lyrics in one of my favorite songs by Carly Simon. Not exactly a parady that would make Wierd Al Yankovic proud, but they'll have to do....
You met me several years before hotenough.org
When I was still quite fit and attractive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved for a better than average dating pool
And one of them was me...

You're so vain
You probably think this post is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this post is about you
Don't you? Don't you?

Gothic Blue by Portia Da Costa

Gothic Blue - coverGOTHIC BLUE - Portia Da Costa

'What are you going to do to me?' Belinda asked defiantly. 'Beat me or something?

Smack my bottom? I'm sure that's what you decadent aristocrats live for - a chance to humiliate the lower orders.' Even as she was speaking, this idea - which should have seemed horrendous - was becoming highly exciting.

At an archduke's reception, a handsome young nobleman falls under the spell of a malevolent but irresistible sorceress.

Two hundred years later, Belinda Seward also falls prey to sensual forces she can neither understand nor control. Stranded by a thunderstorm at a remote Gothic priory, Belinda and her boyfriend are drawn into an enclosed world of luxurious decadence and sexual alchemy.

Their host is the courteous but melancholic Andre Von Kastel; a beautiful aristocrat who mourns his lost love. He has plans for Belinda - plans which take her into the realms of obsessive love and the erotic paranormal.

"Above all else, Gothic Blue is a romance. There are plenty of supernatural elements, and more than plenty erotic interludes. Portia Da Costa does many things very well: plot, characterisation and (in the case of this title) she injects a credible suggestion of the supernatural in a realistic world. She's renowned for writing sex scenes that are so hot they sizzle and, in Gothic Blue, she does not disappoint."
~ Ashley Lister, Erotica Readers and Writers Association

"Packed with sex and kink, this is a novel that still retains a mysterious and powerful air. A hint of the supernatural is mixed with a fun gothic setting as a tale of intertwining romances is told by Da Costa with aplomb. A highly recommended novel"
~ E.T.O – Issue 44 March 07"the sex is relentlessly intense!" ~ Forum

The Rest of the Story...

It truly was interesting when I went back to Jones West Ford and picked up my truck.

My service advisor refused to call in for authorization from my extended warranty provider (Quality) because they don't deal with them. He said Quality owes them $100,000 and he wouldn't call. Well, can't get the coverage if they won't call and get authorization first. So I'm (temporarily hopefully) out $550 for the repair and $2000 for the extended warranty.

I’m not very happy, but I felt I had little choice. It wasn’t serious stuff that needed to be fixed. It was the emissions system. The truck would have driven fine. I could have waited and fought it beforehand, but I didn’t want that hassle either. I got it fixed because I don’t want to be a smoggy person. I might not be firmly standing in the global-warming-is-going-to-kill-us-all camp, but the least I can do is drive a vehicle that doesn’t emit more greenhouse gasses than normal because I haven’t maintained it. So, the repair had to be done.

Still, I have news for Ford Motor Company. Allowing multiple vendors to cover Ford extended warranties will factor heavily into my next vehicle purchase. All that means though is I won't purchase another long term warranty. I did when I bought this truck because I was living in a land-locked rural Alaskan community where car repairs are astronomically priced. There was a Ford mechanic in my town, but Dodge owners had to fly a mechanic out to work on their trucks. It was a remote corner of the planet and the added protection seemed a good idea at the time.

Speaking of Dodge....

My coworker went on and on about how wonderful her Dodge is, and I just smiled and didn’t tell her that all I hear is blah-blah-blah-blah-blah (like Charlie Brown’s adults). I've heard it all before. If Dodge was so much better, they wouldn't have a service department, would they? And, if I know that the Dodge service department irritates people too. A handful of years back one of the Iditarod winners was coming into Nome for his second win. Part of the purse includes a new Dodge truck. He said something like: “Oh, great, now I have two trucks that are famous for $1000 repairs.”

The bright side of this whole matter is that I can't afford a Ferrari. Can you imagine the bill the Ferrari mechanic would have handed me!

Maybe I should write an auto salesman or car mechanic hero. Could be some fun conflict to resolve.
